Experience the Magic of Thomas Walsh – Live in Concert!
Friday, October 10th, 2025 | Get Hip Record Store, Pittsburgh
Step into a world of melodic brilliance and heartfelt storytelling with Thomas Walsh, one of Ireland’s most celebrated songwriters and the creative force behind Pugwash. Walsh’s music has been hailed as “Beatles level good” by none other than Andy Partridge of XTC, who also signed him to his Ape House label and collaborated with him on several projects. Partridge raves, “Pugwash, at their best, are almost Beatle-like in their greatness. They are THAT good.”
Walsh’s songs are a masterclass in pop craftsmanship, blending the tunefulness of the Beatles, the wit of Ray Davies, and the lush arrangements reminiscent of Electric Light Orchestra. Jeff Lynne himself is a fan, writing: “I’ve always admired your lovely vocal sounds and super double tracking. Great string sounds too! Nice chord changes, memorable melodies. What else can you do!”
But Thomas Walsh is more than the sum of his influences. With a warm Irish voice and a knack for unforgettable hooks, he crafts music that is both deeply personal and universally relatable. His albums—whether under his own name or as Pugwash—are filled with “supremely fetching songs” that balance melancholia, power pop energy, and intelligent lyricism. His latest work, The Rest is History, showcases his talents as a writer, singer, and producer, with guest appearances from the likes of Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy), Michael Penn, and Joe Elliott (Def Leppard).
Even legends like Brian Wilson have taken notice. When Walsh met Wilson, the Beach Boys genius exclaimed, “Are you that ‘nice to be nice’ guy? GREAT SONG!!” Praise doesn’t come higher than that.
A Thomas Walsh concert is more than just music—it’s an evening of wry storytelling, infectious melodies, and a celebration of the “controlled madness” that makes his artistry so unique. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering his music for the first time, you’ll be treated to a setlist packed with gems, from the uplifting “Take Me Away” to the heartbreakingly beautiful “Finer Things In Life.”
Don’t miss your chance to see one of the most criminally underrated songwriters of our time. Join us for an unforgettable night with Thomas Walsh—where every song is a new favorite waiting to be discovered.
Doors are at 7pm on and the show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $20 with online presale or $25 at the door. See you there!!
