Local independent label  Get Hip Recordings, leading promoter of garage and punk rock, will partner with Andy Johanson Photography to present a showcase of its artists as part of the third annual R.A.N.T. Rock All Night Tour Lawrenceville. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 16, 2014, five bands from Get Hip’s roster will perform in the Andy Johanson Photography studio at 4310 Butler Street in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.

DJ Zombo and Mary Jo Coll inaugurated the Rock All Night Tour music festival, more commonly referred to as “RANT,” in 2012.  Over the past three years, RANT has expanded and added new acts to its line-up. “We’ve had great attendance and great bands, but something seemed to be missing,” said RANT co-founder DJ Zombo. “Then I realized that the missing piece was right in our own backyard, well, actually, across the river at Get Hip Recordings.”

The Get Hip showcase will feature three of the label’s most popular current acts, including:  Pow Wows and Nox Boys, all leading up to the headline performance: a very rare appearance by The CYNICS’ Gregg and Michael backed by members of local soul-pop band Neighbors! They will perform classics from their first two albums.
Open to all ages and free to public, the showcase will include raffles of Get Hip merchandise and Get Hip’s pop-up record store with hundreds of vinyl records from the label’s own roster and many more from the distribution catalog. Food and soft drinks will also be available for purchase in the courtyard adjacent to the studio’s back entrance alley.

The Get Hip Showcase runs from 7:00 PM to 11 pm, on Saturday, August 16, 2014, with an afterparty featuring The Van Allen Belt, all happening at Andy Johanson Photography, 4310 Butler Street.

Donations are encouraged.
All proceeds will go directly to the performing bands.
