New Release: SLIM FORSYTHE “THIS IS…” · Out 7/7 on LP/ CD / Digi

We’re excited to announce Get Hip Folk Series‘ third long-player and second collaboration with the Steel City’s own mountain gospel troubadour, Slim Forsythe. (ICYMI: Take a peek at 2016’s aptly named Slim Forsythe’s Greatest Hits.)

Out Friday, July 7, This Is Slim Forsythe features ten songs straight from the soul of this 61-year-old Northern Tier Kid from Bradford, Pennsylvania. Slim calls what he does “Classic Country Western, Mountain Gospel, Bluegrass, Rockabilly…and some original stuff that sounds like that!”

In the album’s first five numbers, Slim pays homage to some of his heroes:  namesake Slim Bryant; Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, and Roy Acuff.  Then he carries on the tradition, adding five of his own homespun compositions to the Great American Songbook. All but one song— “Works of Straw”—come with one of Slim’s patented spoken-word introductions.

This Is… is available on Opaque Red color vinyl (limited to 300), classic black vinyl (limited to 200), CD, and digital. All LP’s are housed inside a luxurious Stoughton sleeve and include a complimentary download coupon.

Pre-order your copy now at the Get Hip Webstore, and be sure to give a listen to the album’s debut tracks “Mother, The Queen of My Heart” and “Works of Straw” over at the Get Hip Bandcamp.
