Description:

Coming a year after Neighbours’ debut 7-inch on Get Hip, Prime Numbers is a proper debut for the Pittsburgh four-piece — a collection of 12 rock tunes that range from snotty to sweet to soulful.

The band shows that it can keep it reined-in on soft love songs like “What Did You Say?” but lets it all out on the punk-inflected “All the Time” (a The Jam-style anthem). Singer Michael Cunningham shows off soul-shouter vocals on “Real Talk,” and the rhythm section bares its raw power on the rocker “Green Shoes.”

Neighbours aren’t following trends; they’re writing catchy new tunes that reflect elements of the classics of rock while avoiding simply replicating the past.
