Get Hip Records launches Fundraiser to support Jesse Malin

GET HIP RECORDS LAUNCHES FUNDRAISER
TO SUPPORT JESSE MALIN

A portion of proceeds from sales will support the musician as he suffers from spinal cord stroke

JUNE 16, 2023 (Pittsburgh, PA) – Get Hip Records today announces a new fundraiser supporting musician Jesse Malin, who recently experienced a debilitating spinal stroke resulting in paralysis from the waist down.

“Jesse is a lifelong artist who has made amazing accomplishments over the years in devoting himself to writing music, playing music and bringing music to people around the world,” Sweet Relief fundraising site states. “His catalogue is impressive, consisting of 15 Jesse Malin album releases, four from prior band D Generation, and other various EP, film and single releases including music from his teenage hardcore band Heart Attack. He’s worked long and hard on making these records, touring behind them, and getting them proper exposure. For decades, Jesse’s mantra has been one of PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). Now, he needs all of your PMA and help.”

Jesse himself has supported organizations including: Sweet Relief, MusiCares, Light of Day Foundation, Joe Strummer Foundation, Save Our Stages, Joey Ramone Foundation for Lymphoma Research, Joey’s Song, Black Lives Matter, Howl Helps, Positive Panther Benefit (Natalie Beaverstock/fan for a wheelchair), Rock The Night Foundation, Rock Against Racism, Jail Guitar Doors, The Bowery Mission, Road 2 Recovery Foundation, Little Kids Rock Foundation, and food banks around New York City.

“Jesse’s own charitable efforts have been prolific and we want to give back to support an incredible musician in need because this is the right thing to do,” said Gregg Kostelich, owner of Get Hip and guitarist of The Cynics. “I myself had planned to see Jesse play at Club Cafe and heartbreakingly, that tour was cut short by this devastating stroke. I want to rally Pittsburgh’s music community around Jesse and this is the best way that we can make a difference for him right now. Come buy your next record for a good cause.”

Pittsburgh’s Get Hip Records will donate $1 for every LP, CD, and T-shirt sold, and 50 cents per every 45 sold from June 16, kicking off today, through July 5, to support Jesse’s healthcare costs and recovery moving forward. The fundraiser will be held in-store and via all online sales.
